Morrison Utility Services ‘risers’ to the challenge for Southern Gas Networks

Framework contract extends its area of operation to cover five counties in the South East

Morrison Utility Services, the leading utility services provider in the UK, has won a further contract to renew gas risers, pipe work supplying gas to multiple occupancy buildings, with Southern Gas Networks (SGN).

The two-year contract includes a significant extension to the geographic area previously covered by Morrison Utility Services teams.  Now covering SGN’s entire operational footprint in the South East of England, teams will work across South East London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

Potentially worth up to £10 million, the agreement continues Morrison Utility Services’ four-year track record of work on gas risers for SGN.  In this time Morrison Utility Services’ teams havesafely and successfully renewed gas supplies to over 12,400 homes.

Steve Colvin, Construction Manager, Southern Gas Networks, says: “In complex operations such as riser replacement we need to rely on our service partners and trust them to uphold the values of our business.  Safety and customer service are the values which are essential to getting the job done successfully and Morrison Utility Services’ work for us in this area over the past four years has demonstrated their ability to deliver on these.”

Charles Morrison, Morrison Utility Services, Chief Executive, says: “Gas riser renewal projects are extremely challenging and the expertise and excellent safety track record of our teams have been a significant factor in our winning this contract.  I am delighted that we can continue to enhance our long-term working relationship with SGN.”
