Morrison Utility Services, the leading utility services provider in the UK, has been awarded a ‘distinction’ for its safety record in the International Safety Awards presented by the British Safety Council on 18th May.

The International Safety Awards scheme, now in its fifty-fourth year, recognises organisations’ commitment to workplace health and safety.  The scheme is open to businesses of all sizes and from all industries as it seeks to promote high standards in health and safety management to prevent workplace injury and ill health.

Paul Kerridge, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Director, Morrison Utility Services, says: “We are very proud of our perfect 60 score and are delighted to be awarded a prestigious ‘distinction’ mark in the International Safety Awards.  This award recognises the hard work contributed by every individual in our business who makes safety their own personal responsibility.  We will maintain our commitment to introducing new safety initiatives which continue the ‘raise the bar’ on our own high standards across the business.”

This year’s award saw 550 UK and international organisations successfully achieving a pass mark, 125 of these were awarded a distinction.

Alex Botha, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, says: “What the winners have demonstrated is that well-managed health and safety ensures the safety and wellbeing of their employees and contributes to business effectiveness and success.  The health and safety of employees is non-negotiable and the winners have shown their determination, like us, to ensure that no one is killed, injured or made ill by work activities.”
